New build near Amersham
The site in Great Missenden and it was a vacant, unbuilt plot in the greenbelt. The plot was surrounded by varying types and styles of mainly detached residential buildings.
The clients brief was for USL Architects to design a dream or lifetime home. This would consist of a large kitchen diner for family and special occasions, a couple guest rooms and study plenty of natural light to meet the clients needs today and for the future in their retirement years.
Being in the green belt and all the restrictions that it can bring, we started with a simple sketch and a pre application submission to the local authority on the principle of a new dwelling on this site.
The response was positive with some guidance as to the style, height and massing. Based on this and working closely with the client, we developed a scheme that was submitted for planning approval. The application was successful on the first go, with a couple of minor changes.
